About
Axel Peterson is a cinematographer and photographer based in Bozeman, Montana.
With deep humility and reverence for our natural world, Axel has employed the camera as a medium for sharing stories, experiences, and capturing the beauty that surrounds him.
Raised in the mountains of central Idaho and the seas of Southeast Alaska, Axel is most comfortable in remote and rugged landscapes. His passion has taken him on assignments to some of the harshest environments imaginable, from documenting the inside of an active volcano to tracking pumas in sub-zero temperatures.
Axel creates content for commercial products and wildlife documentaries; he works with clients such as XTRATUF, Muck Boot, National Geographic, Netflix, PBS Nature, and CNN.
In 2022, Axel and his team were recognized with a Primetime EMMY nomination for Outstanding Cinematography for a Nonfiction Program and awarded Best Cinematography by the Critics Choice Documentary Awards for the Netflix documentary series “Our Great National Parks: Chilean Patagonia.”
Fueled by fascination and grit, Axel seeks to document the world around him and bring untold stories to life.
